About Paratransit Service
Paratransit service is a reservation-based, shared-ride, curb to curb service designed to provide comparable paratransit service for individuals with disabilities who are not able to use the fixed route service.
Paratransit service is available to individuals with disabilities, as well as seniors (age 65+), and Medicare card holders. Paratransit-eligible passengers must receive certification through an application process.
Paratransit services operate during the same hours and days as TCRTA’s local fixed route system. Reservations are accepted seven days a week and can be made up to two weeks (14 days) in advance

Commuter Route Deviations
Experience convenient, reliable transportation with our demand-response paratransit services, available at various locations throughout Tulare County. Route deviation is only provided for the portions of commuter routes that fall within TCRTA’s service area (not within the City of Porterville, City of Visalia, or neighboring counties).
Deviated fixed route services operate the same hours and days as TCRTA’s commuter fixed route system. Service hours vary by route. Next day reservations are required and are taken seven days a week. Reservations are accepted the day of the trip, provided there is room in the day’s schedule to accommodate them.
Paratransit Eligibility
Eligibility Criteria
Under the ADA regulations, there are three categories under which a person may be eligible for ADA paratransit service:
1. An individual with a physical or mental disability (including a vision impairment), and without the assistance of another individual (except the operator of a wheelchair lift or other boarding assistance device) to board, ride or disembark from any vehicle on the TCRTA fixed-route system which is readily accessible to and usable by individuals with disabilities.
2. Equipment and/or stops on the TCRTA fixed-route system are not accessible to a person in a wheelchair or a person using a mobility device such as a walker.
3. An individual with a disability who has a specific impairment-related condition, which prevents the individual from traveling to a boarding location or from a disembarking location on TCRTA fixed-route system

Once an application is received, it will be reviewed by transit staff. A determination of your ADA eligibility status will be made within 21 day
